I want to buy the Nexus 5X and begin service with Project Fi. They are selling the phone for $199 with activation of service.

Only unlocked devices can be used with Project Fi. If you purchased your Fi phone through Project Fi or the Google Store, your device is unlocked. Are Project Fi phones locked to Project Fi or can they be used with another carrier's SIM card, eg AT&T/ TMobile or another foreign provider? Unlocked phones.

They say that they no termination fees and the phone can be returned within 15 days. Things is I do not want to return the phone. I wish to use Project Fi for a couple of months before I go abroad and take the Nexus 5X with me.

Can I keep the Nexus 5X I bought from the Project Fi after canceling their service?
